| B
- Concerning Christ |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| (11) |
 |
Let
Christ dwell in your heart by faith |
 |
 |
| Eph
3 : 17 |
...so
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| (12) |
 |
Give
him a higher place than father, mother, husband, wife, children,
relations, houses, and lands |
 |
 |
| Luke
14 : 26 |
[Jesus
said] "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father
and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters -
yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple." |
|
| Eph
5 : 1 |
Be
imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children... |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| (13) |
 |
Set
your affections upon him, and not upon the present world at all |
 |
 |
| Col
3 : 1-4 |
Since,
then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on
things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earhtly things. For you
died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When
Christ, who is your life, appears, then you will also be with
him in glory. |
|
| 1
John 2 : 15 |
Do not
love the world or anything in it. If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| (14) |
 |
Take
him for an example and follow in his steps |
 |
 |
| 1
Pet 2 : 21-23 |
To this
you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you
an example, that you should follow in his steps.
"He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his
mouth."
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate;
when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted
himself to him who judges justly. |
|
| John
13 : 15 |
[Jesus
said] "I have set you an example that you should do as I
have done for you." |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| (15) |
 |
Abide
in him: do not let him slip from your memory and affections |
 |
 |
| John
15 : 7 |
[Jesus
said] "If you remain in me and my words remain in you,
ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." |
|
| Heb
2 : 1 |
We must
pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard,
so that we do not drift away. |

Call
him to rememberance every first day of the week in the breaking of
bread, as he has appointed |
 |
 |
| Matt
26 : 26-27 |
While
they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying, "take and eat; this
is my body."
Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them,
saying, "Drink from it, all of you. " |
|
| 1
Cor 11 : 23-26 |
... The
Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when
he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my
body, which is for you; do this in rememberance of me."
In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this,
whenever you drink it, in rememberance of me." For
whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim
the Lord's death until he comes. |
|
| Acts
2 : 42, 20 : 7 |
They
devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
On the first day of the week we came together to break bread.
... |
|
| 1
Cor 16 : 2 |
On the
first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a
sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that
when I come, no collections will have to be made. |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |

 |
Be
not ashamed to confess him before men |
 |
 |
| Luke
12 : 8 |
[Jesus
said] "I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men,
the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of
God." |
|
| Mark
8 : 38 |
[Jesus
said] "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this
adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be
ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the
holy angels." |
|
| 2
Tim 1 : 8 |
[Paul
sid] So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or
ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for
the gospel, by the power of God, ... |

contd. |
 |
at
the same time taking care not to expose your holy things to the
profane |
 |
 |
| Matt
7 : 6 |
[Jesus
said] "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your
pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their
feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces." |
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
| (18) |
 |
Aim
to be in a state of continual readiness for his coming. With this in
view, be on your guard against the engrossments of business, the
cares of life, and the allurements of pleasure |
 |
 |
| Matt
24 : 44 |
[Jesus
said] "So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man
will come at an hour when you do not expect him." |
|
| Luke
12 : 35 - 37, 14 : 26 |
[Jesus
said] "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father
and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters -
yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple." |
|
| 2
Pet 3 : 14 |
So
then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this,
make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace
with him. |
|
 |

 |
Endure
to the end, submitting to hardship if the necessary consequence |
 |
 |
| Matt
24 : 13 |
[Jesus
said] "... but he who stands firm to the end will be
saved." |
|
| 2
Tim 2 : 3 |
Endure
hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. |
|

Hold
fast your confidence and rejoicing in him till you die or he come |
 |
 |
| Rev
2 : 10-25 |
Do not
be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the
devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will
suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the
point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. He who
has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.
To the angel of the church in Pergamum write:
These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged
sword. I know where you live - where satan has his throne. Yet
you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in
me, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was
put to death in your city - where satan lives.
Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: You have people
there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balek to
entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to
idols and by committing sexual imorality. Likewise you also
have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent
therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight
against them with the sword of my mouth.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the spirit says to the
churches. To him who overcome, I will give some of the hidden
manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name
written on it, known only to him who receives it.
To the angel of the church in Thyatira write:
These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like
blazing fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze. I know
your deeds, your love and faith, your service and
perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at
first.
Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman
Jezerbel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she
misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of
food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of
her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a
bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery
with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I
will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know
that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay
each of you according to your deeds. Now I say to the rest of
you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and
have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets (I will not
impose any other burden on you): Only hold on to what you have
until I come. |
|
| Heb
3 : 14 |
We have
come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the
confidence we had at first. |
